British Council for Korean Martial Arts

Welcome to the official BCKMA website.

  The British Council for Korean Martial Arts is a highly
  respected and non-political independent governing
  body, established in 2001 to provide recognition and a unified framework and regulatory structure for the practitioners of Korean Martial Arts in Great Britain and are pleased to have as its 'honourary' President Supreme Korean Grandmaster; Kim, Bok Man.

In addition, the BCKMA is a fully accredited centre with both OCR and Edexcel examination boards (Centre No 50141).

As a governing body the BCKMA caters for varying aspects of Korean Martial Arts as well as the more popular styles of Taekwondo, Tang-Soo-Do and Hapkido, etc, and welcome applications for membership from all bonafide groups, clubs and instructors.
 
Mission Statement : The BCKMA is committed to the promotion and development of Korean Martial Arts throughout the UK and the pursuit of excellence through dedicated training, education and service and embraces equally the qualities of professionalism and tradition.

  professional Masters in the
  UK for technical support and
  guidance.

  As a responsible Governing
  Body we require all
  instructors to obtain
  enhanced CRB certification
  plus Public Liability and
  Professional Indemnity
  provided under our official
  insurance scheme.

  We also have extensive Health & Safety policies and a comprehensive Coach Education Training Programme and are registered with the 'UK Martial Arts Standards Advisory Commission'.

Supreme Korean Grandmaster Kim, Bok Man has been acknowledged as the world's most senior living proponent of Taekwondo and is also the founder of a uniquely Korean Martial Art of 'Chun Kuhn Do'.

In 2007 Grandmaster Kim was inducted into the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame in an historic ceremony along with Grandmasters; Nam Tae Hi, C.K. Choi, Cho Sang Min, Dong Keun Park and Kim Pyung Soo.

Grandmaster Kim holds the prestigious position of 'Technical Director' or the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame' and a Director of the World Taekwondo University in Korea appointed by President Chun, Jae Lee.

GM Kim has said: "During the early years I developed the principles and techniques for Taekwon-do which culminated in a book written by myself in 1963.

I am thus humbled that others have referred to me as one of the true principle founders of Taekwon-do."
